Status of Women in Kashmir

In Dr. Nyla Ali Khan's research, she outlines the status of women in Kashmir. Women are gaining new rights and asserting themselves in politics in her homeland, and this seismic shift in traditional gender roles opens up new avenues for democracy and regional peace. This is possible if women in civic organizations and government lead the way toward a peaceful pluralistic democracy and support international negotiations for long-term peace in Kashmir. Within the Indian Federation, the process can get off to a solid start in my own state.
